Dear Residents, Family and Friends:
First of all, we at Redmond Care and Rehabilitation Center want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for your support and understanding during this challenging time. Your cooperation is key in allowing our team to focus our efforts on keeping your loved ones safe and comfortable. We are truly all in this together.
We write to update you on the status of the COVID-19 situation at Redmond Care, as of today. Over the course of the past week, we have had additional residents test positive for the virus. While some of those residents have been transferred to the acute hospital for further evaluation and treatment (and one, thankfully, has recovered), there are several residents who are remaining at Redmond for their continued treatment. Please know that the care of these patients is being directed and carefully overseen by their physician; is being continuously monitored by the clinical staff at Redmond; and is being managed consistent with the guidance that has been provided to us by the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, and the World Health Organization. More specifically, we are taking all steps to keep these patients quarantined and isolated, and are monitoring temperatures and symptoms of all staff and residents.
In addition, we continue to adhere to the Guidance published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as we navigate these waters. This Guidance was updated last evening, and confirmed the restriction on visitation in all nursing facilities across the nation. As you know, our visitation at Redmond has been restricted since Monday of this week, with only essential medical personnel and end of life visitors being allowed in to the building; we believe this timely intervention has helped us to effectively manage our environment in a way that minimizes the further spread of infection.
Importantly, we want you to know that the Redmond team continues to work tirelessly in their efforts to provide patient-centered, quality and compassionate care to each resident in the Facility, those that are positive with COVID-19 and those that are not. These challenges have united us, and we are steadfastly committed to the people we serve. We are beyond grateful to every single employee and staff member who has dedicated their life to the care and treatment of others, the people we lovingly refer to as the “heroes without capes.”
We continue to take urgent action to minimize the possible exposure associated with this virus, and all of the interventions referenced in our previous communication of March 9 remain in place. Dear Residents, Family and Friends:
On behalf of the entire team at Redmond Rehabilitation and Care Center, we want to thank you for allowing us to care for you or your loved one. We recognize the high level of trust that you place in us, and we are committed to providing excellent care to those whom we have the privilege to serve.
As you are most likely aware, the country is currently united in its attempt to navigate the challenges presented by the COVID-19 virus. Our home state has been significantly affected, as some of the first cases were identified in Washington over a week ago. Of course, we at Redmond Care have consistently been following the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, including following strict handwashing procedures and, in many circumstances, wearing personal protective equipment when indicated by the resident’s presenting condition. We are also current with the CDC recommendations, and update our protocols as new information becomes available. Likewise, we remain in close contact with the local and state health departments, and appreciate their ongoing guidance and support.
We have former residents that have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Although none of these residents are currently in the Facility, we are taking every precaution to protect our current residents and staff members. As part of our efforts to manage this development, and in accordance with the guidance provided by the King County Public Health Department, we will be restricting visitation at this time and until further notice. Of course, we are happy to facilitate virtual visitation by phone or FaceTime, and encourage you to remain in contact with your loved ones without in-person visitation until such time as we are able to welcome you back.
In addition to immediate visitor restriction, we are continuing to be proactive regarding any infections that could impact our community. For your information, we have listed below a sampling of some of the ways in which we are responding to the COVID-19 situation:
- Staff will be wearing masks
- Admissions to Redmond will be voluntarily stopped
- Isolation procedures are being implemented as appropriate to the resident’s clinical condition
- Staff are required to stay home from work if ill
- Infection prevention/control is “job one” in this moment
Please know that we are all fully engaged in taking action to minimize the possible exposure associated with this virus. We thank you for your continuing confidence, and for helping us in our attempts to keep our residents and staff safe.
